Noida, July 4. A major fire broke out at the ILGIM company, an electronic chip manufacturing company located in the Ecotech-3 police station area of Gautam Buddha Nagar, early Tuesday morning. While extinguishing the fire, a wall and a heavy iron beam suddenly collapsed, seriously injuring five firefighters. Two of these firefighters died during treatment, while three others are undergoing treatment in the hospital.
The fire department and police received information about the fire at ILGIM at around 3 a.m. on the intervening night of August 3 and 4. Upon receiving the information, police from the Ecotech-3 police station, several fire brigade vehicles, and rescue teams arrived at the scene. After considerable effort, the fire was brought under control. However, during this time, a side wall and a heavy iron beam suddenly collapsed, burying five firefighters engaged in rescue work under the debris.
Two firefighters lost their lives.
The firefighters injured in the accident were identified as Chief Constable Driver Rajpal Singh, Chief Constable Driver Tirathpal Singh, Fireman Rohit Yadav, Manish Kumar, and Amit Kumar. All the injured were immediately rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared Fireman Rohit Yadav and Chief Constable Driver Tirathpal Singh dead. Manish Kumar, Amit Kumar, and Rajpal Singh are reported to be out of danger.
Investigation into the cause of the fire has begun.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the company manufactures electronic PCB chips. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Senior police officers, fire department officials, and a team from the SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) arrived at the scene and began rescue operations and investigations.
Safety standards will also be investigated.
Police say that all aspects of the accident are being investigated. Specifically, it will be examined whether fire safety and other safety standards were followed at the company. The administration expressed its deepest condolences to the two firefighters who lost their lives in the accident. Police stated that necessary legal action has been initiated in the case.
