Air India Flight: Air India flight AI2379 from Phuket, Thailand to Delhi, encountered severe turbulence during its flight on Tuesday (August 4, 2026). The aircraft lost about 300 feet in a matter of seconds, causing panic among passengers and cabin crew. Air India said that 10 passengers and 4 cabin crew members were injured in the incident.
According to Air India, the aircraft, registered VT-EXO, suddenly encountered severe turbulence or updraft-downdraft. Due to which the aircraft’s altitude changed suddenly. However, the pilot, taking precautions, immediately regained control of the aircraft and continued the flight safely towards Delhi.
The sudden jolts caused several passengers to lose their balance. Some passengers and cabin crew sustained minor injuries. The airport authorities were informed about the incident even before the plane landed at Delhi airport. Therefore, a medical team and emergency response system were kept ready. After the plane landed safely, all the injured were medically examined and given necessary treatment. Air India said in an official statement that the safety of passengers is the company’s top priority and a detailed investigation will be conducted into the incident.
