What did Anant Singh say?
JDU leader Anant Singh has responded to the results of the Bankipur Assembly by-election. Singh stated that the outcome would have been different if Nitish Kumar had been in power in Bihar, meaning that this situation would not have arisen if he had been Chief Minister. Furthermore, Singh stated, “No leader wins or loses in this election; the one elected by the people wins… The public is angry.”
He said that a leader who served the people of Bihar for so many years was suddenly removed from the post of Chief Minister. The people of the state are angry about this. This anger is the reason why the people have given their mandate.

It should be noted that the results of the by-election for the Bankipur assembly seat were announced on August 3rd. Prashant Kishore of the Jansuraj Party received the most votes. He secured 64,151 votes, representing 49.23 percent of the total vote share. BJP candidate Neeraj Kumar came in second, receiving 44,827 votes, representing 34.4 percent of the total vote share.
RJD’s Rekha Kumari came in third, securing 14,273 votes, 10.95 percent of the vote. The fourth-place candidate, Manoranjan Kumar Srivastava of the Pragatisheel Janata Party, received only 973 votes, meaning he failed to reach four digits. He received 0.75 percent of the total vote.
