Patna: The state government will take comprehensive initiatives to give global recognition to the thousands of years old historical and cultural heritage of Bihar and to develop major archaeological sites as new centers of tourism.
Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has directed to prepare a detailed action plan for conservation, scientific survey, excavation and overall development of major archaeological sites including Bodhgaya, Sultanganj, Mandar and the world famous Kesaria Stupa.
The Chief Minister said that these historical monuments will be reinvigorated and made a center of attraction at the national and international level. To this end, conservation and tourism development work will be carried out in a phased manner.
In this sequence, a delegation of senior archaeologists and experts of the country met the Chief Minister and submitted the report of detailed survey of Maa Mundeshwari temple complex and surrounding areas located in Kaimur district.
Experts said that the thousands of ancient ruins scattered throughout the temple complex could be scientifically restored, preserved, and documented. This would enable the entire area to develop into an important center of Indian archaeological heritage.
The Chief Minister directed the officials to prepare a phased action plan for the conservation and restoration of the ruins of the Maa Mundeshwari temple complex as per the recommendations of the experts.
Also, overall development of the tourism potential of the entire region should be ensured, so that tourists coming from India and abroad can get rich cultural and historical experience.
The delegation that met the Chief Minister included Padmashree Dr. K.K. Mohammed, Prof. Dr. Rajat Sanyal, Prof. Anil Kumar, Superintendent Archaeologist of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Patna, Dr. Hariom Sharma, Development Commissioner Mihir Kumar Singh and Secretary of Art, Culture and Building Construction Department, Pranav Kumar.
