Violence has erupted in Jharkhand’s Chatra district following an alleged rape. According to police, villagers beat a man to death after allegedly raping a young woman. Following the incident, police took action and arrested three people, and additional security forces have been deployed in the area.
Police say the case is being investigated based on a complaint from the woman’s family. Separate legal action has also been initiated regarding the accused’s death. The administration has appealed to the public not to take the law into their own hands and has assured an impartial investigation.

1. According to officials, the woman had gone out of her house on Monday evening to relieve herself. It is alleged that a man allegedly abducted her and raped her. Family members searched for her throughout the night but could not find her. When she returned home on Tuesday morning, she informed her family about the incident. Following this, angry family members and some other people went to the alleged accused’s house.
2. According to the police, the family members and others dragged the accused out of his house and beat him with sticks and stones. He was seriously injured in the attack. Upon receiving information about the incident, police arrived at the scene and rescued the injured man from the mob and rushed him to the hospital. However, he died during treatment.
3. Tandwa Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Prabhat Ranjan Barwar stated that based on the complaint from the victim’s family, three people have been arrested in connection with the murder. Police are investigating the entire incident and are also probing other aspects.
4. SDPO Prabhat Ranjan Barwar stated that the deceased man was jailed in 2023 for raping another woman. According to the police, he had recently been released from jail. The administration has deployed police forces throughout the area to deal with any situation following the incident. Officials say that constant monitoring is being done to maintain law and order.

Jharkhand State Minority Commission (JSMC) Chairman Hedayatullah Khan expressed concern over the incident, saying, “No one has the right to take the law into their own hands.” He spoke with the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police of Chatra and obtained detailed information about the incident.
