Ranchi: The student movement against alleged irregularities in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) 14th Combined Civil Services Preliminary Examination is steadily intensifying. The protest, which has been ongoing since July 25th at the Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium in Ranchi, has now escalated into a major public movement. A large number of candidates and their supporters are demanding the cancellation of the examination and a fair re-examination through sit-ins, hunger strikes, and peaceful demonstrations.
Demand for Cancellation and Re-examination
The protesting students allege widespread irregularities in the 14th JPSC Preliminary Examination. They say the protest will continue until the examination is cancelled and re-conducted in a transparent manner. The candidates have also demanded the release of the annual examination calendar to ensure a regular recruitment process in the state.
Agitations in two groups, but similar demands
The movement is currently being led by two different student groups, although their core demands are similar. One group is led by student leader Devendra Mahato, who is on a hunger strike. Both groups state that their sole objective is to ensure a fair recruitment process and a transparent employment system for the youth.
CID Investigation Claims Several Important Revelations
The Jharkhand Crime Investigation Department (CID) is investigating this case. During the investigation, it has been claimed that OMR sheets and admit cards of candidates were found in the possession of some employees associated with the JPSC and the exam conducting agency. The investigating agency has also requested OMR sheets from some successful candidates.

Several Arrests, Former Chairman Under Investigation
During the investigation, several people have been arrested in this case. The former Chairman of the JPSC is being continuously interrogated and his passport has also been confiscated. Meanwhile, the agitating students are adamant on demanding the cancellation of the exam, a central agency investigation, and ensuring a timely and fair recruitment process in the future.
