A parliamentary committee of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has given Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg a three-day ultimatum to apologise and take action against those responsible for temporarily removing a July 23 video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The committee, headed by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, said the removal of the video of PM Modi, which represents 1.4 billion Indians, is an “attack on democracy”. “If Facebook does not take action against those responsible, the ‘safe harbour clause’ will be removed. Mark Zuckerberg will have to apologise. Otherwise, a case may be filed,” the committee said.
