Lucknow, July 5. Women over the age of 60 in Uttar Pradesh will soon enjoy free travel on roadways buses. The Yogi government has taken a major step toward implementing this scheme, allocating ₹100 crore to the State Road Transport Corporation in the first supplementary budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year. This announcement was among the key promises made in the BJP’s public welfare manifesto.
Additional assistance of Rs 1094.40 crore to the Women Welfare Department
The government has also allocated an additional ₹1,094.40 crore in the supplementary budget for the Women’s Welfare Department. This amount will be used to further strengthen various schemes related to destitute women, orphaned children, and women’s safety.
930 crore rupees for destitute women pension scheme
930 crore rupees have been allocated for the Destitute Women Pension Scheme, which aims to provide social security to women facing financial hardship after the death of their husbands. This will ensure regular financial assistance to a large number of eligible women in the state.
110 crore rupees for Chief Minister’s Child Service Scheme
A provision of Rs 110 crore has been made for the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Bal Seva Yojana to ensure education, maintenance and overall development of orphans and children living in special circumstances.
Women and Child Honor Fund also got budget
To provide immediate relief to affected women and children, a provision of ₹54.30 crore has been made for the Uttar Pradesh Rani Lakshmibai Women and Child Honor Fund. This will further enhance the effectiveness of protection and rehabilitation.
Lakhs of senior women will get direct benefit
The government believes that free travel on roadways buses will provide financial relief to millions of senior women in the state while traveling for religious, social, family, and health-related purposes. This initiative will also promote their dignity, convenience, and self-reliance.
