New Delhi, July 21: RJD MP Manoj Jha criticized the BJP-led central government following a violent march towards Parliament, stating that protesters were requesting a dialogue with authorities. Speaking outside Parliament during the opening day of the Monsoon Session, Jha said, “When was the last time you saw something like this? I certainly don’t recall… Were the children asking for the moon and stars? They were asking for dialogue. You are steeped in arrogance. You are dismantling political parties across the country and calling it ‘Chanakya Niti’ (Chanakya’s strategy)…”
The Cockroach Janata Party’s (CJP) protest over the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak escalated on Monday as a party delegation met Union Health Minister JP Nadda to present their demands. The march towards Parliament turned violent, resulting in injuries to over 118 police personnel, according to Delhi Police.
A CJP delegation met Union Health Minister JP Nadda, who urged protesters to end their sit-in. Nadda, Leader of the House in the Rajya Sabha, posted on X that for the first time that morning, the protesters proposed talks with the government.
CJP chief spokesperson Saurav Das stated that they submitted three demands to Nadda: the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, compensation of Rs 1 crore for families of NEET aspirants—more than 20 of whom have died—and the immediate release of activist Sonam Wangchuk, currently hospitalised. Das added that the protest would continue until Dharmendra Pradhan resigns.
Delhi officials reported that during the protest, CJP participants displayed unruly, aggressive, and violent behavior. Despite repeated warnings and lawful police directions, they refused to disperse and violated prohibitory orders. Protesters attacked police with stones and other objects, attempted to breach barricades, damaged police and government vehicles, and caused large-scale violence, threatening public order and the safety of police personnel carrying out their duties.
As a consequence, over 118 police personnel suffered injuries, including senior officers such as Special Commissioner of Police, Joint Commissioner of Police, Additional Commissioner of Police, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Assistant Commissioner of Police, and several women officers. Approximately 60 protesters were also reported injured during the clashes.
Activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has been on a hunger strike at Jantar Mantar demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Pradhan due to the NEET exam paper leak, was admitted to Safdarjung Hospital on July 18.
