A 37-year-old youth, who had come to attend his grandmother’s Dashagatra (tenth) rites, died due to drowning while bathing in the Aami river. After the incident, there was chaos on the spot and the atmosphere became sad due to the screams of the family members.

Accident happened during Dashgatra Sanskar

According to the information, Ranvijay son of Jogendra Prasad (37 years), resident of village Italy, was involved in the Dashagatra Sanskar of his grandmother. According to tradition, after getting his hair cut on the river bank, he came down to take bath in Aami river. According to eyewitnesses, while bathing, he suddenly went into deep water and soon drowned in the strong current of the river.

Villagers tried to save

Seeing the young man drowning, the people present nearby tried their best to save him, but due to the depth and strong current of the river, he went missing in the water. As soon as information about the incident was received, a large number of villagers reached the river bank and started helping in the relief work.

Police and SDRF conducted search operation

Information about the incident was given to Khajni police through dial-112. As soon as the information was received, the police reached the spot and started the search with the help of local divers. After not getting success for a long time, SDRF team was called. The team conducted a search operation in the river for several hours with the help of modern equipment.

The entire family is in mourning

This accident wreaked havoc on the family. In the house where there was already mourning for the death of grandmother, another member of the same house passed away untimely. The family members are in bad condition while crying, while there is an atmosphere of mourning in the entire village. The villagers also remained standing on the river bank for a long time in the hope of finding the young man.

SHO Khajani Jayant Singh said that after receiving information from Dial-112, police immediately reached the spot and relief and rescue work was started with local divers. Later SDRF team also got involved in the search operation. Till the time of writing the news, the body of the youth could not be recovered and the search operation was going on. Police said that necessary legal action will be taken after the body is found.
