The Uttar Pradesh government has made several announcements with its first supplementary budget for the financial year 2026-27, which could have a direct impact on the lives of the general public. This budget not only provides additional funding, but also places special emphasis on social welfare, employment, worker safety, improved infrastructure, and transparent administration. The government claims that these decisions will accelerate the state’s development and directly benefit various sectors.
1. Relief from travel expenses to senior women
The government has decided to launch a scheme for free travel on roadways buses for women aged 60 and over. This initiative aims to provide financial relief to elderly women and provide them with more independent and convenient transportation.
2. Workers’ income and rights will be strengthened
The government is preparing to amend workers’ wage regulations. Once the new system is implemented, every eligible employee will be entitled to a fixed minimum wage. Furthermore, the principle of equal pay for employees performing equal work will be strengthened. Employees who work overtime are likely to receive higher pay than before. Furthermore, the changes in the wage structure may positively impact employees’ provident fund, gratuity, and other service benefits.
3. Security will be stronger in competitive exams

5. Speeding up development projects in Prayagraj-Chitrakoot region
The government has decided to expand the scope of the Prayagraj-Chitrakoot Regional Development Authority to eight districts. This is expected to accelerate plans for road, industrial projects, housing, education, and other infrastructure development in these areas.
