With 411 runs scored in their first innings, the visiting team kept Sri Lanka Under-19 under pressure till the end of the second day. The host team could score only 122 runs after losing 8 wickets in 40 overs. At present the Indian team has a lead of 289 runs.
The Indian team, which came to bat after losing the toss, had lost the wickets of both its openers till 6 overs of play. Till that time the team’s account could not even be opened. After this, Kushagra Ojha took charge. He added 122 runs for the third wicket with captain Yashvardhan Chauhan (78), while he added 155 runs for the fourth wicket with Manal Chauhan.
Kushagra Ojha was out after scoring 111 runs with 12 fours and 2 sixes. From here Manal took charge and played an inning of 150 runs with 21 boundaries and took the team to a huge score. For the host team, Gimhan Mendis took maximum 3 wickets, while Sethmika Seneviratne, Dulanith Sigera and Vigneswaran Akash took 2 wickets each.
In response, the Sri Lankan team faced 40 overs till the end of the second day, in which they scored 122 runs after losing 8 wickets. As the opening pair, Dimantha Mahavithana made a partnership of 35 runs with Avisha Samash for the first wicket. Avisha was out after scoring 9 runs, while Dimantha contributed 24 runs to the team’s account.
The host team had lost 2 wickets till the score of 40, after which captain Vimath Dinsara made small partnerships and took the team to the score of 79. Dinsara could add only 8 runs to the team’s account. After this, Viran Chamuditha contributed 21 runs and Dulnith Sigera contributed 31 runs to somehow take the team beyond the century mark.
From the Indian camp, Rohit Yadav, Chigurupathi Venkata and Pranav Raghavendra have taken 2-2 wickets, while Kavya Patel and Jaganathan Hemchudesan have taken 1-1 wicket.
