Congress on Monday marched to Lok Kalyan Marg and sat on a dharna in protest against the lathicharge during the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protest on July 20. Meanwhile, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh arrived to talk to the Congress leaders, but the talks between the two sides could not reach any conclusion.
According to sources, Union Minister Jitendra Singh met Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and discussed the demands of the protesters.
According to Congress sources, the party has placed five major demands before the central government. He has demanded the resignation of the Union Education Minister, the Union Home Minister to give a statement on this matter in both the Houses and a detailed discussion on the entire issue in the House. Issues related to students should be seriously heard and addressed. An impartial investigation should be conducted into the violence and police action that took place during the protest.
The protest by Congress leaders and workers continued till late evening on Lok Kalyan Marg. Additional police force has also been deployed in the area to maintain security. Rahul Gandhi and other MPs sat on the ground and demanded the resignation of the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister. During this period, a large number of police forces remained deployed for security.
Earlier, Rahul Gandhi said, “We had met the Speaker of the Lok Sabha and demanded a discussion on the students’ issue in the Parliament. The Speaker of the Lok Sabha said that he will have to take permission from the government to discuss it. This is a serious issue related to the future of the students.”
Students demanding justice are being lathicharged and beaten up. The Prime Minister has not even apologized to him yet. The youth of the country are raising their voice against the collapsed education system and examination system. Why is the Prime Minister silent on this? He should apologize to the students and stop this oppression on students immediately.”
Congress alleges that during the CJP demonstration, police action was taken strictly against students and protesters. The party has intensified protests against the central government regarding this issue.
