New Delhi. Former Australian fast bowler Brett Lee has finally broken his silence on the rumours that have been circulating for years about his relationship with Bollywood actress and Punjab Kings co-owner Preity Zinta. Since the beginning of the IPL, various rumours have surfaced linking the two, but now Brett Lee has clearly stated that there was never a love affair between him and Preity Zinta. They were just good friends and their friendship continues even today.
In an interview, Brett Lee stated that he never dated a Bollywood actress. He explained that Preity Zinta was the owner of the Punjab team at the time, and that he always had a respectful and friendly relationship with her. Lee stated that Preity is a very intelligent and respectful woman, and he respects her immensely. He also stated that public speculation and rumors never bothered him because he always knew the truth. According to him, people kept making up stories, but he never let them influence him.
In fact, with the inception of the Indian Premier League in 2008, Brett Lee joined the Kings XI Punjab team. He remained a part of the franchise until 2010. During this time, Preity Zinta and Brett Lee were seen together several times on the field and at team events. Their close bond sparked rumors of an affair. However, neither of them responded to these rumors in detail at the time.
Interestingly, in 2010, Preity Zinta also dismissed these rumors outright. She stated that her name is linked with Brett Lee every year, but there’s no truth to it. She categorically stated that the two are just good friends and nothing more.
Brett Lee’s personal life has always been a topic of discussion. He married Elizabeth Kemp in 2006 and they have a son. Their relationship later broke down and they divorced in 2009. In 2014, Brett Lee remarried Lana Anderson, and they now have two children. Even after retiring from cricket, he remains involved in commentary and various sporting events.
Preity Zinta is active in both films and cricket. As co-owner of the Punjab Kings in the IPL, she is frequently seen cheering on her team. Recently, she has been in the news for her upcoming film, “Bantwara 1947,” in which she will star alongside Sunny Deol. The film is scheduled to be released in theaters soon.
Brett Lee’s statement has virtually put an end to years of rumors. He has clarified that he and Preity Zinta were simply friends and have always respected each other. This statement answers the many speculations that have long been the subject of discussion in the cricket and film worlds.
