Shivcharan Gupta, a former textile businessman, passed away on Tuesday. He had moved in with his wife but had been living alone since her death.
During his illness, he constantly hoped his daughters would visit him, yearning to see them. He breathed his last with the desire to see his daughters one last time. According to officials at the old-age home, the daughters were informed of their father’s deteriorating health 20 days in advance, yet none of them visited him.
Daughters live in Mumbai, Uttar Pradesh, and Nepal
Shivcharan Gupta had no son. He lovingly raised and educated his three daughters, Anita, Nisha, and Priya. Two of them had even become teachers. However, when the home management contacted them after their father’s passing, they made excuses about not having time. The daughters, who lived in Nepal, Mumbai, and Uttar Pradesh, contacted them via video call.
Despite receiving news of their father’s death, none of the three daughters came to the home or attended his funeral. Instead, they sent ₹5,100 for funeral expenses and asked that a video of the funeral be sent to their phones.
Daughters Didn’t Even Come to Collect the Ashes
When the daughters didn’t come even after receiving the news, the home staff, along with local residents, performed the duties of a son. They organized the funeral procession and performed the last rites. After the funeral, when the daughters were asked to collect the ashes, they requested that they be immersed in the Ganges. They didn’t even have the time to do so with their own hands. This incident, which went viral on social media, enraged people, who called them “daughters of the Kaliyuga.”
