FIH Youth Hockey 5s Asian Championships: Indian men’s and women’s teams unbeatable

Muscat, Oman). The Indian sub-junior men’s and women’s teams continue their impressive performance at the FIH Youth Hockey 5s Asian Championships 2026.

In the elite pool matches on Tuesday, the men’s team defeated host Oman and arch-rival Pakistan, while the women’s team defeated Uzbekistan in a one-sided fashion after playing a draw with China.

Indian sub-junior men’s team defeated Pakistan 7-4 in a thrilling match. For India, Karan Gautam completed a hat-trick by scoring goals in the 5th, 9th and 19th minutes.

Apart from this, Rahul Yadav (3′), Prahlad Rajbhar (10′), captain Ketan Kushwaha (11′) and Romit Pal (11′) scored one goal each.

Aslam Muhammad Farhan (6′), Adeel (8′) and Usman Muhammad (10′, 16′) scored for Pakistan.

Earlier, the Indian men’s team defeated host Oman 14-0. Captain Ketan Kushwaha scored four goals (6′, 11′, 15′, 20′), while Ashish Tani Purti scored a hat-trick (1′, 16′, 19′).

Rahul Yadav (2′, 12′) and Shahrukh Ali (3′, 13′) scored two goals each. Prahlad Rajbhar (9′), Karan Gautam (15′) and Romit Pal (18′) also contributed to India’s big victory by scoring goals.

At the same time, the Indian sub-junior women’s team played a 2-2 draw with China in its second elite pool match. Chen Ge gave the lead for China in the fourth minute.

After this, Nausheen Naz gave India the lead by scoring two consecutive goals in the 16th and 17th minutes. However, Jiaxin Guo scored an equalizing goal in the 19th minute to draw the match.

In the second match of the day, the Indian women’s team defeated Uzbekistan 16-0. Nausheen Naz scored four goals (6′, 9′, 15′, 16′), while Sandeepa Kumari (2′, 6′, 20′) and captain Sweety Kujur (10′, 13′, 20′) scored hat-tricks.

Diya (3′, 17′) and Pushpa Manjhi (11′, 13′) scored two goals each. Apart from this, Kiran Ekka (8′) and Neelam Topno (18′) also scored goals.

The tournament is also the Asian qualifier for the first FIH Under-18 Youth Hockey 5s World Cup. Both the Indian men’s and women’s teams have remained unbeatable in the tournament so far and look to be strong contenders to get the World Cup ticket.
