Big upheaval again on OTT! ‘Anupama’ slipped to 10th position in the top 10 list, know how football (FIFA) overtook cricket and entertainment.
The Top 10 trending list that comes every week on OTT Platforms based on audience choice and viewership has brought very surprising results this time. Daily soaps and Bollywood content, which have been ruling the TV and digital space for a long time, have been overtaken by live sports this time. According to the latest viewership report of Ormax and various OTT tracking platforms, Indian viewers have showered maximum love on live sports and reality content instead of drama shows this week, due to which the ranking table has completely changed. FIFA (Football) overtakes Cricket and occupies the number 1 position. Cricket is generally considered to be the most watched sport in India, but this week a big history has been created in terms of OTT viewership. FIFA matches have achieved the number 1 position, beating high-profile sports streaming like the India-England cricket series. Live football matches and high-voltage thrills kept Indian audiences glued to their OTT screens, leading to sports streaming breaking all previous viewership records. ‘Anupama’ reached 10th position, Lock-up and Laughter Chefs’ influence continues. The most shocking fall in this entire list has been seen in Rupali Ganguly’s show ‘Anupamaa’, known as the queen of TV and OTT. This show, which was once in the top 3, has now slipped to the 10th position. According to the audience, the viewers are feeling a bit bored due to the continuous drama and long leap. On the other hand: Number 8: The new season of Kangana Ranaut/Munawar Faruqui fame reality show ‘Lock Up’ is maintaining its place. Number 5: Bharti Singh and Krushna Abhishek’s hit comedy-cooking show ‘Laughter Chefs’ is entertaining the audience with laughter. No. 3 & 6: Popular drama ‘Thukra Ke Mera Pyaar’ and sitcom ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ are still maintaining a strong hold in the top 10 list. The audience is rapidly shifting towards sports and reality genre. These figures of OTT viewership clearly show that the mood of the Indian digital audience is changing rapidly. People are preferring to watch live sports (like football and cricket) and unscripted reality/comedy shows rather than traditional saas-bahu dramas and long TV serials. OTT platforms may make major changes in their content and streaming strategy in the coming weeks.
