Lathicharged and tear gas shells were fired on Patna students protesting against paper leak.

• Resignation sought from Union Education Minister in paper leak case

Patna. There was a clash between the police and the protesters during the students’ demonstration on Wednesday. Students were marching to Raj Bhavan in protest against the paper leak case and demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

To stop the protesters, the police had barricaded JP Golambar. The police appealed to the students to return, but the students tried to move forward by breaking the barricade. After this the police used water cannon, released tear gas shells and lathicharged to control the crowd.

Despite the police action, a large number of students remained standing at JP Golambar and kept raising slogans against the government. Some students sat on the road, while the police continued trying to pacify them. After about 20 minutes, the protesters broke the barricades and moved ahead and reached Dakbungla intersection.

Police have also made strict security arrangements at Dakbungalow intersection. Barricading has been done here again and a large number of soldiers are deployed. Police have also made arrangements for water cannon and tear gas. Meanwhile, during the protest, the escort vehicle of Patna IG was also attacked. The vehicle was damaged in the attack and its glass was broken.
