Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has issued an official notice informing that in many major and densely populated areas of the city, water supply will be disrupted or water will come due to low pressure during the next 24 to 48 hours. According to Jal Board officials, the shutdown is being taken for the purpose of carrying out necessary annual maintenance at the Water Treatment Plant (WTP), repairing booster pumping stations and repairing leakages in the main transmission pipelines. According to the information given by the Jal Board, due to the repair work, there may be water shortage in the following areas of Delhi: North and Central Delhi: Residential and commercial areas around Civil Lines, Karol Bagh, Patel Nagar, Paharganj, and Old Delhi. South Delhi: Greater Kailash, South Extension, Lajpat Nagar, Kalkaji, and some pockets of Saket. West and Outer Delhi: Janakpuri, some sectors of Dwarka, Paschim Vihar, and areas adjacent to Najafgarh. Cantonment Area: Delhi Cantt and surrounding military and civil areas. Jal Board’s appeal: Save water and store it in advance. Delhi Jal Board has appealed to all the citizens and RWAs of the affected areas to store drinking water in sufficient quantity as per their requirement before the days of water cut. The Water Board has urged people to use water very wisely and economically during this period of crisis so that they do not have to face any major problems. In areas where water supply will be completely stopped, water tankers will be provided by the Jal Board.
