ICC ODI Ranking: Shubman Gill just 1 rating point away from becoming number-1, Rohit-Virat also got a big advantage

ICC ODI Ranking: After the ODI series played between India and England, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has released the latest ODI batting rankings. In the new rankings, Indian captain Shubman Gill remained very close to becoming the number-1 batsman. Gill is in second place with 801 rating points, while New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell remains at the top position with 802 ratings. There is a difference of only one rating point between the two players.

Although Shubman Gill performed impressively against England, he could not get the number-1 position. Since the Indian team is not going to play any ODI match at present, there is no possibility of them reaching the top position in the near future.

Increase in ratings of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma

Indian team’s experienced batsmen Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have also got benefit in the new ranking. There was no change in the ranking of both the players, but their rating points have increased.

Virat Kohli’s rating has increased from 757 to 767 and he remains at third position. Rohit Sharma’s rating has increased from 744 to 758 and he remains at the fourth position. In this way, three batsmen from India are included in the top-5 of ICC ODI batting rankings.

Babar Azam and Harry Tector also got benefit

In the new ranking, Pakistan’s Babar Azam has gained one place and has reached sixth position. Ireland’s Harry Tactor has also moved up one place to seventh place.

England’s Joe Root has taken the biggest leap. He has moved up four places to take eighth position with 674 rating points. His unbeaten inning of 99 runs against India has directly benefited him and he has returned to the top-10 again.

Shreyas Iyer’s ranking also improved

Indian batsman Shreyas Iyer has also gained two places in the latest rankings. He has now reached 13th position. However, he has not been able to make it to the top-10 yet.

Meanwhile, West Indies captain Shay Hope has slipped three places to ninth position. Sri Lanka’s Charith Asalanka also dropped one place to 10th.
