According to experts, especially in a deep or French kiss, the saliva of both the partners mixes completely. According to a study, once we kiss, about 8 crore bacteria can enter each other’s mouth. Most of these bacteria are not harmful, but if someone has a weak immune system, they can cause problems.

Which diseases can spread from whom?

The most common danger is cold and cough. If your partner is suffering from cold or cough, the virus can easily spread during the kiss.

Another disease that people call the ‘kissing disease’ is mononucleosis. It is caused by Epstein-Barr virus. Its symptoms include fatigue, fever, sore throat and swollen glands in the neck. This disease can easily spread from one person to another through saliva.

Herpes is also a big danger spread through kissing. Even if there are no mouth ulcers, the virus can remain present in saliva and infect another person.

If your partner has the flu, influenza viruses can also be spread through small respiratory droplets during kissing. Apart from this, the bacteria causing mouth and gum diseases can also increase the problems of teeth and gums by reaching the other person through saliva.

When to be more careful?

If your partner has fever, cold, cough or mouth ulcers, avoid kissing.

Take special caution when immunity is weak (due to illness or medication).

Sometimes viruses can spread without showing symptoms, so complete protection is difficult.
