Team India gets a new coach, BCCI’s big announcement before the Zimbabwe series; This coach entered in place of Gambhir

VVS Laxman Appointed India Head Coach For Zimbabwe Tour: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that head coach Gautam Gambhir will not accompany Team India on the upcoming Zimbabwe tour. A three-match T20 series will be played between India and Zimbabwe from July 23, but Gambhir and his coaching staff will not be present with the team on this tour.

In Gambhir’s absence, former Indian batsman VVS Laxman has been made the head coach of Team India. After Gambhir becoming the head coach in July 2024, this will be the first time when Laxman Senior will take charge of the Indian team.

BCCI did not give the reason

BCCI has not revealed any specific reason behind Gautam Gambhir not going on this tour. However, the board has made it clear that VVS Laxman will take charge of the team as coach during the Zimbabwe series.

Have played this role before also

VVS Laxman has played the role of coach of the Indian team many times before. During Rahul Dravid’s tenure, Laxman guided the young Indian team on foreign tours whenever the senior coaching staff was not available.

Laxman’s long-term experience of working with young players at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) also makes him the most suitable choice for this responsibility.

The team will set out in search of victory

Shreyas Iyer will captain India on the Zimbabwe tour. However, the team’s performance under his captaincy has been disappointing. India had to face defeat in both the T20 matches against Ireland and the team lost the series 0-2. After this, the first match on the England tour was canceled due to rain, while India had to face defeat in the remaining four matches and the team lost the series 0-4.

Will the losing streak end?

The Indian team has lost its last six T20 international matches consecutively. In such a situation, the Zimbabwe tour is being considered as a golden opportunity for Team India to return to the winning track. The Indian team consisting of young players under the supervision of VVS Laxman will now try to end the streak of consecutive defeats by performing better against Zimbabwe.
