Deployed for security of Amarnath pilgrims, terrorist attack on police team, head constable died

Anantnag: On Wednesday afternoon, terrorists attacked the police team in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. In this firing that took place in Lal Chowk area, head constable Ashiq Hussain Qureshi, posted on security duty of Amarnath Yatra, was martyred. After the incident, high alert has been declared in the entire area.

According to the information, the policemen were on duty at around 12:30 pm when the terrorists suddenly opened fire on them. The security forces also immediately retaliated due to which firing continued from both sides for some time. During this, Ashiq Hussain Qureshi was seriously injured. He was immediately taken to the Government Medical College (GMC) hospital, but doctors could not save him.

After the attack the terrorists fled from the spot. The Resistance Front (TRF), associated with the banned terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba, has claimed responsibility for the attack. The place where the attack took place is a busy market area of ​​Anantnag, where there is movement of people throughout the day. Immediately after the incident, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army and other security agencies cordoned off the entire area. A large-scale search operation is being conducted in Lal Chowk and surrounding areas. All major roads are being blocked and vehicles and people are being thoroughly checked. Security agencies are trying to find out the number of terrorists involved in the attack and their escape route.
