Tezzbuzz Desk- The ongoing student movement across the country regarding the NEET paper leak issue now appears to be taking a political form. The student protests have given the opposition, especially the Congress, a major issue against the government. In this sequence, Congress has announced nationwide protests today. All the MPs and leaders of the party will protest against the central government by wearing black bands. Congress says that the government is accountable on this issue related to the future of lakhs of students and strict action should be taken against the culprits.
After the students’ protest in Delhi, Congress has made a strategy to raise this issue vigorously from the streets to the Parliament. The party is continuously demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Home Minister Amit Shah. Congress alleges that serious incidents like paper leak have raised questions on the credibility of the country’s examination system and the government has completely failed in this matter.
On Tuesday, Congress MPs staged a protest outside the Prime Minister’s residence under the leadership of Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi. In this protest, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, K.C. Many senior leaders including Venugopal participated. During the demonstration, Delhi Police detained all the leaders, although they were released after some time. Congress termed this as suppression of democratic rights and accused the government of suppressing the voice of the opposition.
An important meeting of India Block leaders is proposed at the residence of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge today at 10 am. In this meeting, the strategy to corner the government will be discussed inside and outside the Parliament. It is believed that during the monsoon session, the opposition will raise this issue prominently and will maintain constant pressure on the government.
Congress has instructed all its state units to organize protests. According to the party, marches will be taken out in different states across the country, protests will be held in front of the Gandhi statue, leaders and workers will wear black bands or black clothes and protest against the government through posters and banners. At some places, even by playing cards as a symbolic protest, the government will be accused of playing with the future of the students. The aim of the party is to give this issue the form of a mass movement at the national level.
The first two days of the monsoon session of Parliament have also been marred by huge uproar over the issue of NEET paper leak. Congress and other opposition parties are continuously demanding a detailed discussion on this matter. The opposition says the government should respond to the alleged irregularities in the examination system and take strict action against those responsible. Along with this, the demand for resignation of the Education Minister is also being repeated continuously.
On the other hand, the demonstration of students continues at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. Under the banner of student organizations, a large number of youth are sitting on strike with their demands. The protesters are demanding fair investigation, strict action against the culprits and a strong system to prevent recurrence of such incidents in future.
The issue of NEET paper leak is no longer limited to students only, but has become a major topic of national politics. The opposition is continuously attacking by linking it to the accountability of the government, while the government says that action is being taken against the culprits and the investigating agencies are investigating the entire matter. The political confrontation on this issue is likely to intensify inside and outside Parliament in the coming days.
