Mumbai The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) team raided the canteen of Mumbai Municipal Corporation headquarters on Wednesday. In this action, a fine of Rs 50 thousand has been imposed on the contractor of the canteen. There were continuous complaints of uncleanliness in the canteen. Recently, there were incidents of fly being found in buttermilk and plastic thread being found in onion bhajiya. Taking these matters seriously, the FDA team raided the canteen and conducted a thorough investigation.
In this case, the Municipal Corporation administration has also imposed a fine of Rs 50 thousand on the canteen operator. Municipal Corporation’s Health Department and Labor Department have imposed a fine of Rs 25 thousand each. Complaints were being received in the canteen of Municipal Corporation Headquarters that food items were not kept covered. Because of this flies sit. Even while preparing food, hygiene rules are not followed. But the canteen operator was not paying any attention to these complaints.
It has not yet been clarified by the FDA as to what action has actually been taken against the canteen. FDA officials examined and inspected the canteen for about five hours. A few days ago, the canteen of KEM Hospital complex run by Mumbai Municipal Corporation was also raided by the FDA and the license of the canteen was cancelled.
