Currently there are 48.8 crore rural internet users, which is 55% of India’s total active internet population. Also 98% of Internet users consume content in regional languages and voice searches in regional languages have increased by 156% compared to English. Businesses will therefore need to create more inclusive and ‘vernacular-first’ (prioritizing local languages) e-commerce experiences.
