Parliament Monsoon Session: Parliament proceedings adjourned till 2 pm, government appealed to the opposition to join the discussion
Delhi. The Lok Sabha meeting was adjourned till 2 pm on Thursday after a one-time adjournment due to uproar by members of opposition parties in protest against the police action against students protesting in the NEET question paper leak case and demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Accusing the opposition of running away from it by imposing pre-conditions for discussion on the NEET question paper leak issue, the government said that the government is ready for immediate discussion and the opposition should start the discussion without any delay. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said that the opposition is requested with folded hands to participate in the discussion.
Members of opposition parties, including Congress, are adamant on their demand for the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan before the discussion on the NEET question paper leak issue. As soon as the House meeting began today, the opposition members started raising slogans against the government, raising various issues including the police action against the students protesting in the capital on Monday over the NEET question paper leak issue. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla appealed to them to allow the Question Hour to continue and assured that after the Question Hour is over, he will give the members an opportunity to present their views.

Seeing the uproar in the House not stopping, Birla adjourned the proceedings till 12 noon. When the meeting started at 2 pm after one adjournment, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said, “We appealed yesterday and today again we are appealing to the House that the discussion on the NEET paper leak issue should start without any delay.” He said that the discussion on this issue should start immediately in both the Houses of Parliament and the government is ready for it whenever the opposition wants this discussion, on whatever date they want and for as long as they want.
Rijiju said, “We want to request the opposition with folded hands that you decide when you want to hold the discussion.” But if you make an excuse by placing a bet, it means that you want to run away from the discussion. Today all the NDA colleagues have also demanded that there should be an immediate discussion on the NEET paper leak. It is necessary to discuss all the states in which papers have been leaked.
He said that the sooner this discussion happens, the better it is for the country. He also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given a good message to the country this morning that orders have been given to set up a fast track court to give strict punishment to the culprits of the NEET paper leak case and no playing with the future of the youth and students of the country will be tolerated.
Opposition demands resignation of Education Minister
Presiding Chairman Dilip Saikia told the opposition members who were creating ruckus near the seat that the government wants discussion and it is not appropriate to disrupt the proceedings of the House. Seeing the uproar not stopping, he adjourned the meeting till 2 o’clock after about 10 minutes. The standoff continues between the government and the opposition in Parliament over the NEET paper leak and the opposition’s demand for the resignation of the Education Minister. Since the beginning of the monsoon session on Monday, Question Hour and Zero Hour could not be held in the Lok Sabha for the fourth consecutive day.
