UP wins in mobile manufacturing, Noida becomes new electronics hub due to semiconductor investment

Uttar Pradesh Mobile Manufacturing: Uttar Pradesh is fast emerging as a global electronics manufacturing hub by manufacturing about 65 percent of mobile phones manufactured in the country. The state’s electronics exports have also registered significant growth.

According to the data of the Industrial Development Department, while electronics exports were negligible in the year 2015, it will increase to US $ 2.58 billion in the financial year 2022-23, which is 16.65 percent of India’s total electronics exports.

Mobile devices manufactured in Uttar Pradesh significantly contributed to India’s electronics exports worth US$28.45 billion in FY 2023-24, while smartphone exports alone are set to reach US$17.5 billion in FY 2024-25.

UP becomes global technology power with strong industrial ecosystem

According to officials, this strong industrial ecosystem developed keeping Noida and Greater Noida as the center has played an important role in making UP a global technology power. Global brands such as Samsung, Oppo, Vivo and LG as well as leading Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs) such as Dixon Technologies, Optimus, Paget Electronics, Zetworks (Zetown) and Bhagwati Products (Micromax) operate here.

Uttar Pradesh contributes about 55% in electronics component production.

He says that Uttar Pradesh has also emerged as the backbone of the country in the field of electronics component manufacturing and is contributing about 55 percent of India’s total electronics component production. Companies like Samkwang, Holitech, KHY, Khwatek, Minda Corporation, Jworld, Shinsung C&T, Sunwoda and Dreamtech are manufacturing many important electronics components including PCBAs, displays, capacitors.

The state is also strengthening its leadership position in consumer electronics manufacturing with the expansion of major companies like Haier and Panasonic.

Uttar Pradesh receives investment worth Rs 32,146 crore in semiconductor manufacturing sector

The Industrial Development Department says that the effective implementation of Uttar Pradesh Electronics Component Manufacturing Policy-2025 along with Electronics Manufacturing Policy-2017 and amendments made in the years 2020 and 2022 has attracted investment of more than Rs 28,000 crore by more than 75 companies in the state.

Along with this, Uttar Pradesh has also taken strong steps in the field of semiconductor manufacturing and has achieved approved investment of Rs 32,146 crore, of which the HCL-Foxconn Display Driver Chip Plant to be established near Jewar is the main one.

At present, more than 1.85 lakh Common Service Centers are operating in the state, which are providing more than 314 e-governance services. At the same time, the rapidly growing consumer base of more than 24 crore smartphone users is giving new impetus to domestic demand.
