Kareena Kapoor speaks at length about Karisma Kapoor’s Bollywood struggles

Kareena Kapoor has opened up about how her sister Karisma Kapoor navigated her Bollywood journey early in her career despite facing resistance from her father.

During her appearance on Dance India Dance, the Bodyguard star spoke at length about the struggles Karisma faced due to a lack of support from their father Randhir Kapoor.

Speaking highly of the Dil To Pagal Hai actress, Kareena recalled, “Many people refused to work with her. Dad also backed out of his support at one point.”

The Jab We Met star has also previously spoken about how Karisma struggled at the beginning of her career.

In an exclusive interview with Simi Garewal, the actress described what it was like living away from her father at such a young age.

Despite their mother’s support, Kareena revealed that it took an emotional toll on Karisma’s mental health, and she would often find her sister crying at night.

“Despite the Raj Kapoor name, nobody supported Karisma. My mother had to struggle. Lolo (Karisma) would stay up nights and cry. I used to hide behind the curtain and watch. I have seen a lot with my mother and sister. I lived life through them. The way people would put her down. She would cry and go to sleep,” she recalled.

However, the Singham star said that despite those challenges, their mother Babita never lost hope in Karisma.

For the unversed, Karisma made her debut with Prem Qaidi in 1991 at the age of 16.
