Ahead of the Ramayana trailer drop, Ranbir Kapoor and Yash took the magnum opus to San Diego Comic-Con 2026, with some interesting details about this much-talked-about project.
The two stars showed up at the pop culture convention in style, dressed in Indian ensembles that turned heads before they even got to the panel.
Ranbir arrived in a sharp bandhgala with dark sunglasses and an Indian flag lapel pin. Yash kept it sleek in a black suit. Pictures from the event spread quickly online, and for good reason, it is not every day that an Indian mythological epic gets this kind of global platform.
At the panel, which also featured director Nitesh Tiwari and producer Namit Malhotra, both stars opened up about what it took to bring this story to life.
The Toxic star had plenty to say about the Animal star’s portrayal of Lord Rama. “It’s not easy to play Lord Ram. The way Ranbir Kapoor has done it is marvellous. He has worked incredibly hard, and when you watch Ramayana, you’ll witness a beautiful portrayal of Rama filled with intent and sacrifice,” he said.
On his own experience playing Ravana, the 40-year-old spoke about what kept the team grounded through all the technical and creative challenges.
The Googly actor said, “I think intent is the most important thing. You need to have the right intent and team. When we started off with the right intent, then everything will fall in place.
Technically, it was challenging, from make-up to looks, but eventually, when you try to tell a story, we give it our all to tell the story in the most authentic way. I think we have been able to do it in quite a good manner, is what I believe.”
The official Comic-Con synopsis set the tone perfectly, “In an age of gods and kings, the fate of worlds hangs in the balance. Rama, a prince bound by duty, sacrifice and the greater good, must face Ravana, an immortal ruler driven by pride and vengeance, powerful enough to shatter the cosmos.”
Ramayana also stars Sai Pallavi as Sita. Part one releases during Diwali 2026, with part two following in 2027.
