Prince was found unconscious in the hotel bathroom

According to the report, the Prince stayed at the Marriott Hotel in Kensington, London for a week on November 19. He was last seen smoking a cigarette outside the hotel on the night of 24 November. After this he returned to his room alone. The next day when the hotel staff opened the room, Prince was found lying unconscious on the bathroom floor. Paramedics tried to save him, but he was declared dead at the scene.

Cause of death revealed in postmortem

According to the medical report presented in the Coroner’s Court, the amount of alcohol in the Prince’s body was almost three times more than the legal limit set in England. Apart from this, traces of GHB (party drug), Xanax (anti-anxiety drug), cannabis and other drugs were also found in his body. Doctors told the court that a lethal combination of alcohol and these drugs caused his cardiac arrest.

No evidence of murder or conspiracy found

During the investigation, CCTV footage of the hotel, forensic reports and other evidence were examined. The court found that the Prince had last gone to his room alone and no evidence was found of the presence of any other person with him. The coroner in his report termed the death as ‘Death by Misadventure’ i.e. accidental death. The court made it clear that no evidence was found of suicide or the role of any third person.

Treatment was going on earlier also

The investigation also revealed that Prince was already struggling with alcohol and Xanax addiction. A few months before his death, he had undergone treatment in London and other rehabilitation centers in Britain. Doctors told the court that his mental condition had improved during treatment and he was not considered to be at risk of suicide.

The official announcement was made a few days later

A few days after the death of the Prince, the Saudi royal court issued an official statement confirming his death. After this, his funeral was held at Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh, which was attended by many members of the royal family and senior officials.
