England all-rounder Will Jacks produced a moment of brilliance to snatch an unbelievable boundary line catch for MI London against London Spirit in the Hundred on Thursday.
Batting first, Spirit’s opener Lhuan Dre-Pretorius got off to a great start as he took the attack to MI’s bowlers. The South African reached his half-century in no time and just when he was looking to further up the ante, Jacks produced the jaw-dropping moment.
Facing leg-spinner Nathan Sowther, Pretorius swept the ball right past the bowler’s head and momentarily, it seemed like the South African had hit it well enough for the fourth six of his innings.
However, Jacks at long-on timed his jump to perfection to grab the ball, lob it back inside the boundary rope and dive forward with his left hand to complete an outstanding catch.
Jacks’ catch proved to be a game-changer, as the rest of Spirit’s batters failed to make much of an impression, finishing with 160 in the first innings.
With the bat, the Englishman got off to a start but was dismissed for 18 off 9 balls. But Nicholas Pooran (39 off 25 balls) and Sikandar Raza later on in the chase helped MI overhaul the target with four wickets and six balls to spare.
