Administration alert regarding Kanwar Yatra in Sambhal, estimated arrival of 3.5 lakh devotees

Sambhal Kanwar Yatra 2026 : In Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, the district administration is in full alert mode regarding the month of Sawan and Kanwar Yatra. This time around three lakh to three and a half lakh Kanwariyas have been estimated to arrive in the district. Keeping this in view, preparations have been started for all the arrangements including security, cleanliness, drinking water, roads, electricity, health and food security.

District Magistrate Ankit Khandelwal said that responsibilities have been handed over to all the departments to conduct the Kanwar Yatra in a peaceful and safe manner. Officials are continuously visiting the spot and inspecting the arrangements.

first monday on 3rd august

The District Magistrate said that the first Monday of Shravan month is falling on 3rd August. Before this there is also the festival of Guru Purnima. The movement of Kanwadis has started and devotees are heading towards the Ganga ghats to collect Ganga water. The administration estimates that this time three lakh to three and a half lakh devotees will pass through Sambhal district or participate in religious rituals here.

Instructions given to all departments

A coordination meeting of all concerned departments has been organized regarding Kanwar Yatra. Topics like road repair, lighting on routes, availability of drinking water, cleanliness around the camps, fire safety and electrical safety were discussed in the meeting. The concerned officers have been instructed to complete all the work within the stipulated time limit.

Hotels and restaurants will be investigated

DM said that the hotels, dhabas and restaurants located on Kanwar Marg will be continuously inspected by the Food Safety Department, so that the devotees can get clean and safe food. As per the instructions of the government, all such establishments are being registered under FSSAI and necessary stickers are also being put.

85 duty magistrates deployed

Regarding security arrangements, the District Magistrate said that a total of 85 duty magistrates have been deployed on the entire Kanwar route. All the officers have been allotted their duty points and they are continuously visiting their areas. Joint teams of police and administration will also keep constant vigil.

The District Magistrate said that the government’s decision to keep meat shops closed within 50 meters of religious places is being fully implemented. The concerned departments are continuously monitoring it.

There will be control on the height of Kanwar and DJ

The administration is strict regarding the height of Kanwar and DJ. District Magistrate Ankit Khandelwal said that the height of Kanwar and DJ will be maintained as per the standards set in the state. Undertaking is also being taken from every Kanwar group and organisers. Regarding spear, trident and other traditional paraphernalia, the District Magistrate said that advisory has already been issued to all the devotees and organizers. Necessary instructions have been shared through meetings and all parties have assured cooperation to the administration.

Enhanced security arrangements at the ghats

In view of the continuous rains and rising water level of Ganga, the administration has decided to make special security arrangements at the ghats. Barricading is being done at all the major ghats. Adequate lighting arrangements are being made keeping in mind the Jalabhishek to be held in the morning and late evening. Apart from this, warning boards are also being installed at places with high water level.

District Magistrate Ankit Khandelwal expressed confidence that with the mutual coordination of administration, police and all departments, this time also the Kanwar Yatra will be conducted in a safe, orderly and peaceful manner in Sambhal.
