Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat attended the 15th anniversary celebrations of the prestigious ‘India International Movement to Unite Nations’ conference held at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre in Mumbai. At this grand event, among nearly 2,000 students and youth from India and abroad, he candidly shared his views on critical, relevant, and contemporary issues such as democracy, protests, commercialization of education, new employment options, and the changing mindset of today’s young generation.
This address by the RSS chief is considered extremely important amid the ongoing debates and vocal youth participation in various competitive examinations, the education system, and employment issues in the country. He categorically stated that today’s young generation—especially Gen-G and Gen-Alpha—is more honest and patriotic than the older generation. He not only justified the youth’s movement and questioning nature, but also called it a positive change for the country’s bright future.
The Patriotism and Honesty of Gen-G
According to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat, the reality differs from the common perceptions about today’s young generation (especially Gen-G and Gen-Alpha). This young generation is far more honest, patriotic, and responsible towards the country than the older generations. Instead of considering their thinking negative, their energy needs to be channeled positively.
Lack of Communication and Movements
Referring to the recent prolonged protests at Jantar Mantar in the national capital, Delhi, Mohan Bhagwat acknowledged that this situation arose due to a lack of communication or dialogue between the government and the youth. If transparent dialogue had been established between policymakers and the youth in time, such a situation would not have arisen.
The Democratic Right to Protest
Protests or demonstrations by youth in support of their demands cannot be considered anti-national under any circumstances. It is the legitimate right of citizens to express their views and initiate dialogue within the framework of democracy, provided this process follows a fully constitutional path.
Youth’s Logical Thinking and Questioning Tendency
In the past, elders’ opinions were accepted without question, but today’s youth demand logical, scientific, and fact-based answers to every issue. Instead of suppressing or silencing this tendency, elders and society should listen to and understand their views seriously.
Commercialization and Accessibility of Education
Expressing deep concern over the education system, it has been clarified that education is not a commercial business or a means of profit. To ensure easy access to quality education for every child, every section of the country, the government, society as a whole, and educational institutions must work together to develop a solid infrastructure.
Emphasis on Employment and Entrepreneurship
There is a need to move beyond the mindset of relying solely on government or private jobs for livelihood. Youth should pursue self-employment and create new business opportunities (startups) to not only become self-reliant themselves but also provide employment to others.
Diplomatic Stance with Pakistan and China
Speaking on national security and foreign policy, (RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat) stated that whenever the nation faces a crisis or war, the entire nation should unite and support the government. However, war or tension is not always permanent, and therefore, the avenues for diplomatic dialogue should always be kept open after the conflict ends.
Women’s Leadership and Equal Rights
Underlining the role of women in Indian society and the global context, it was supported that women’s leadership is essential for the development of the country and society. They must be granted equal rights and equal rights in every field.
