Iran was embroiled in a war with Ukraine. The mercury started rising after a deadly attack on a Russian ship carrying Iranian weapons in the Caspian Sea. In this situation, Tehran had also planned to attack Ukraine on Monday. But after the Ukrainian government formally apologized, Iran withdrew from that plan. This was stated by Mohsen Rajai, a top military advisor to that country.
While talking to the media, he said, “We had prepared to attack three places in Ukraine. But the attack was canceled only after the Ukrainian side apologized.” Although he did not provide any evidence to support his claim. And he did not reveal the identity of the possible targets.
It is worth mentioning that the Iran War began in February 2026 after a joint attack by the US and Israel. Pakistan came forward to play the role of a mediator to stop this conflict. Finally, on April 8, 2026, the US and Israel reached a temporary ceasefire for two weeks. However, peace did not last long. Meanwhile, Iran was embroiled in the conflict.
The Ukrainian ambassador to Israel said that the ships were transporting Iranian weapons to Russia to help in the war against Ukraine. Meanwhile, the Iranian Foreign Ministry reported that one sailor of the ship was killed in the attack. Many were injured. They were clear that the Islamic country had never intervened in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The Ukrainian ambassador to Iran was also summoned to protest this. The situation was gradually turning towards conflict. But Iran changed its mind at the last minute.
