– Police chiefs of 7 states formulated a joint strategy on cyber crime, narco network, organized crime and security arrangements for Simhastha-2028.
Bhopal: The 13th meeting of the Western Regional Police Coordination Committee, chaired by Madhya Pradesh Director General of Police Kailash Makwana, was held on Friday at the Brilliant Convention Centre in Indore.
The conference was attended by Directors General of Police and senior police officers of seven states including Madhya Pradesh – Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa and Union Territories of Daman and Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
In the meeting, a joint strategy was prepared after extensive discussions to address the changing criminal scenario, prevention of interstate crimes and to make coordination between the states more effective.
In the meeting, important topics like security and management of the upcoming huge religious event like Simhastha-2028, speedy search of missing boys and girls, increasing challenge of cyber crimes, organised crime, use of modern techniques in policing and coordinated action against illegal drugs and narco chemical network were discussed in detail.
In the meeting, the police chiefs of all the states agreed that to effectively deal with inter-state crimes, real-time intelligence sharing between the states, maintaining constant contact and regular review and supervision will be ensured by appointing nodal officers in each state.
The conference particularly emphasized the need for joint action against the illegal manufacture, transportation, and use of narcochemicals. It was decided that the concerned states would quickly develop a joint action plan and jointly conduct special operations to dismantle the entire network.
It was also decided in the meeting that the Police Department will coordinate with the Higher Education and School Education Departments and make efforts to include subjects like drug de-addiction, cyber security, women safety and road safety in various educational courses, so that awareness can be increased among the youth.
To further enhance effectiveness in combating organized crime and national and interstate criminal gangs, databases of wanted and wanted criminals from various states were shared. It was also agreed to conduct joint operations and coordinated action against criminals in the future.
During the conference, police representatives from various states presented successful best case studies related to organized crime, women’s safety, narcotics control, cybercrime, and the identification and apprehension of criminals through technology. Emphasis was also placed on regularly sharing such innovations and successful experiences in the future.
In the meeting, representatives from all the states appreciated the innovations developed and operated by Madhya Pradesh Police like e-Sakshi, e-Vivechana, e-Rakshak, MedLEaPR, e-Summons, Drug De-addiction Campaign, Safe Click and Operation Muskaan and described them as excellent models of effective policing.
Apart from this, special emphasis was also laid on strengthening technology based policing by making maximum use of various national portals and crime related databases developed by the Government of India.
At the conclusion of the meeting, it was unanimously decided that the 14th Western Regional Police Coordination Committee meeting would be organised by the Goa Police.
This conference marked an important step towards cooperation, information sharing and joint action among the states of the Western Region and gave a clear message that cyber crime, organised crime, narco networks and other inter-state challenges will be effectively countered through modern technology, better coordination and common strategy.
