Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has urged Governor Gulab Chand Kataria to grant 10 days’ parole to Jagtar Singh Hawara so that he can meet his ailing mother on humanitarian grounds.
In a letter to the Governor, Mann said Hawara’s mother was facing age-related health problems due to her advanced age and that her condition had deteriorated, making the matter a cause of concern.
The Chief Minister also referred to CRWP No. 3868/2026 filed by Hawara before the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chandigarh, seeking his release on parole.
Mann said the High Court had directed that Hawara’s parole application be considered. Against this backdrop, he requested the Governor to consider granting Hawara 10 days’ parole at the earliest.
The Chief Minister emphasised that the request warranted consideration on humanitarian grounds, particularly in view of the deteriorating health of Hawara’s mother.
