Anne Hathaway recalled the time she almost gave up on her career as Hollywood stopped casting in her films.
The 43-year-old having the busiest year of her career in showbiz with multiple release including The Odyssey, Mother Mary, Devil Wears Prada 2, The End of an Oak Street and Verity.
However, there was a time when people stopped hiring her for films after she hosted the Oscars with James Franco and won an Academy for Best Supporting Actress for Les Miserables, which overexposed her online and her media reputation turned toxic.
After winning the Oscar, Hathaway said, “A lot of people wouldn’t give me roles, because they were so concerned about how toxic my identity had become online.”
At that time, Christopher Nolan came in and cast her in his blockbuster film Interstellar without caring about it all.
Anne stated, “I had an angel in Christopher Nolan who did not care about that and gave me one of the most beautiful roles I’ve had in one of the best films I’ve been a part off.”
The Princess Diaries actress further mentioned that she had no idea if Nolan knew that he was backing her at the time. But she credited him for not letting her feel hopeless and disheartened.
Hathaway believes that her career could have lost momentum massively if the Dark Knight Rises director hadn’t cast her in Interstellar.
