A case of fraud involving crores of rupees through a dating app has come to light in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. Following a complaint by a High Court lawyer, an alleged extortion ring was uncovered. A woman allegedly befriended men through the dating app Tinder and then used their private photos and videos to blackmail them and demand large sums of money.
It is alleged that if the men refused to pay, they were threatened with serious criminal charges, including rape and attempted murder. However, these claims have not yet been independently verified. Police are investigating.
Over Rs 6 crore recovered from victims
According to a report by NDTV, the alleged network was uncovered following a complaint from a High Court lawyer. The woman is accused of befriending men through the dating app Tinder and then extorting money from them under the threat of criminal charges.
The woman preyed on men through dating apps and social media. The complaints and alleged victims claim that conversations began as friendships and later evolved into intimate relationships, after which the men were photographed or videotaped during the meetings.
These photos and videos were then used for blackmail. The complainant alleges that the victims were extorted for over ₹6 crore. If the men refused to pay, they were threatened with serious criminal charges, including rape and attempted murder.

Photos related to this case are also circulating on social media. One of these photos shows large bundles of currency notes lying on a bed. Another shows a woman holding what appears to be a weapon. These photos are said to be related to this case. However, their source, date, and context have not been independently confirmed.
Additionally, according to another complaint, the woman used social media accounts under different names to connect with new people. One of these names is “Sweety Tiwari.” It is alleged that she was assisted by two other women and two men. Further investigation is underway.
