Tension has once again reached its peak in the Middle East i.e. Gulf countries, due to which the danger of a large-scale war in the entire region is looming. Two big and important incidents that happened on Saturday have increased the concern of the whole world. On one hand, Iran-backed Houthi rebels have targeted Saudi Arabia’s most important oil facilities, while on the other hand, Iran and Ukraine have come face to face over the attack on an Iranian commercial ship in the Caspian Sea. Due to this situation, clouds of serious crisis are looming over the global energy supply. Major attack by Houthi rebels on Saudi Arabia’s oil bases: On Saturday, Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi group launched rapid attacks on two major oil bases located on Saudi Arabia’s soil. According to statements issued by the spokesperson of the Houthi organization, Aramco company’s refineries and oil storage centers located in Jizan and Yanbu cities of Saudi Arabia were specifically targeted in this attack. In social media and video footage, a heavy plume of black smoke rising into the sky from Jijan Refinery was clearly seen. According to information received from Greek security sources, two dangerous ballistic missiles fired towards Yanbu city were successfully destroyed in the air with the help of the American Patriot Defense System. Let us tell you that Yanbu is the most important oil port of Saudi Arabia located on the coast of the Red Sea. At present, when there is uncertainty regarding the Strait of Hormuz, it is considered the most important and safe route for Saudi Arabia to export oil. Moreover, the total capacity of Jizan Refinery is to produce four lakh barrels of oil per day, hence this attack on it is a huge blow from both economic and strategic point of view. The crisis of civil war flares up again in Yemen. Immediately after these attacks by Houthi rebels, the Saudi Arabia-led coalition has also given a strong response by adopting an aggressive stance. Coalition forces have carried out massive bombardments on several major positions of Houthi rebels located in Marib, Al-Jouf and Hodeidah areas of Yemen. Local officials of Yemen say that after this military action, both sides have once again started mobilizing large numbers of troops on the war fronts. It is noteworthy that Yemen’s civil war, which has largely subsided since 2022, seems to be flaring up once again this month. Houthi rebels had officially announced the naval blockade of Saudi Arabia last week and immediately after this on Thursday they also attacked two oil tankers of Saudi Arabia passing through the Red Sea. Due to these continuously increasing incidents, there is a strong fear that this old conflict in Yemen may once again take the form of a major war. The increased tension between Iran and Ukraine, the attack on a ship in the Caspian Sea along with the attacks on Saudi Arabia have given birth to another major geopolitical dispute in the Gulf region. Iran’s Foreign Ministry has seriously accused Ukraine of targeting and attacking an Iranian commercial ship in the Caspian Sea. According to the official statement of the Iranian Ministry, a sailor on board the ship died tragically in the powerful explosion that occurred during this dangerous attack, while another member was seriously injured. In protest against the incident, Iran summoned Ukraine’s top diplomat based in Tehran and termed the entire action as an openly hostile and criminal act. On the other hand, this controversy got further fueled when Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky openly praised the long-range attacks in the Caspian Sea on his social media platform. President Zelensky had also alleged in his statement that Russia is continuously sharing strategic and satellite intelligence related to the Middle East region with Iran. America’s activism and the looming threat on the global energy market Amidst this whole incident, the American Army has also become fully active in the Gulf sea. Recently, the US Navy has stopped a suspicious ship in the Gulf of Oman, which had the audacity to break the blockade declared by the Houthi rebels. International defense and energy experts believe that if this trade and shipping route of the Red Sea continues to be disrupted after the Strait of Hormuz, then in the coming days it will have a direct and very bad impact on the energy supply and crude oil prices of the entire world.
