India defeated Pakistan 3-1 in the final and captured the FIH Youth Hockey Fives Asian Championship.

Muscat. Indian Sub-Junior Men’s Team has captured the title of FIH Youth Hockey 5s Asian Championship by defeating Pakistan 3-1 in the final of FIH Youth Hockey 5s Asian Championship. India managed to become Asian champion thanks to the goals of Romit Pal (fifth), captain Ketan Kushwaha (12th) and Shahrukh Ali (13th minute). With this victory, the Indian men’s team has reached the top position in the elite pool table.

India took an early lead in the final due to excellent passing and good strategy. Romit Pal scored the first goal in the first half by dodging the Pakistani goalkeeper and with this, India was ahead 1-0 at half time.

Captain Ketan Kushwaha (12th minute) put India in a strong position by scoring a goal at the beginning of the second half. Shahrukh Ali scored another goal soon after and made the score 3-0.

Although Pakistan reduced the gap with a goal by Mohammad Usman (16th minute), the Indian defense stood firm in the last moments and did not allow any goals. Both India and Pakistan have qualified for the first FIH Youth Hockey Fives World Cup by reaching the finals.

In the women’s competition, the Indian sub-junior team won the silver medal after losing 2-4 in a tough match against China in the final.

Hockey India has announced Rs 2 lakh to each player of the gold medal winning Indian men’s team and Rs 1 lakh to each member of the support staff. At the same time, each player of the silver medal winning Indian women’s team will be given a prize of Rs 1 lakh and each member of the support staff will be given a prize of Rs 50,000.
