The company has introduced a new feature to sign in to your Google Account using a selfie video. This feature allows you to log into your account by just showing your face when needed. However, before using it, you will need to set up this feature in your Google account.

How to set up the Selfie Video feature

According to Google, to use this feature, first update the Google app or Gmail app on your phone to the latest version. Then, tap on your profile photo and go to Manage your Google Account. Open the Security and sign-in section and select the Selfie video option under Add more sign-in options. After allowing the camera and accepting the conditions, record a selfie video by turning your face in different directions according to the on-screen instructions. Your face will then be saved as your new way to sign in to your account.

Easy to change or delete selfie video

If you have already saved a selfie video and want to change or delete it, this can be done from your Google Account settings. Open Manage your Google Account by tapping on your profile photo in the Google app or Gmail app. Then, in the Security and sign-in section, select the Selfie Video option. Here, you will get the option to remove or replace previously saved videos. Allow the camera to record a new video and re-record your face according to the on-screen instructions.

Google said how secure this feature is

According to Google, the selfie video feature is designed with privacy and security in mind. Your selfie video is saved securely with your permission, and you can delete it at any time from your Google Account. According to the company, these videos are used only to assist with sign-in, unless you agree to other permissions. During sign-in, new selfie videos are combined with previously saved videos. It also uses multiple security layers to detect live movement and identify fake photos or videos like DeepFax. Google says this feature, along with other secure sign-in options like Passkey and Recovery Contact, will provide secure account access.
