A deal with Britain will prove powerful! India’s exports expected to reach $115 billion
Trade Deal 2026 : The impact of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between India and the UK is expected to be evident on Indian businesses and employment in the coming years. According to a report by industry association Assocham, the agreement could boost India’s exports to the UK to $115 billion by 2030. Currently, total trade between the two countries is estimated to reach $58 billion in 2025-26.
According to the report, trade between the two countries is expected to grow exponentially after the India-UK FTA, which will come into effect from July 15, 2026. If India seizes this opportunity, total trade could nearly double to $115 billion by 2030, says Assocham. This could also create 700,000 to 100,000 new employment opportunities in the country.
Indian companies will face these challenges
However, Assocham has also stated that to fully benefit from this potential increase, Indian companies will need to meet global standards. They will need to comply with product quality, required certifications, rules of origin and international sustainability standards.
MSME and engineering sectors will benefit the most
Assocham President Nirmal K. According to Minda, the engineering goods sector is expected to benefit the most from this agreement. This will provide new export opportunities for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) and boost employment generation.
Ease of doing business reforms, investment in improved infrastructure and strong supply chain will play a key role in enhancing India’s competitiveness, he said. Experts believe that if Indian industries succeed in meeting these standards, the India-UK FTA could prove to be a major game-changer for the country’s exports and economic growth.
