Ariana Grande is reportedly planning a secret project for her fans despite announcing plans to take an indefinite hiatus once her ongoing Eternal Sunshine Tour ends next month.
According to the latest report by The Sun, the 33-year-old American singer-songwriter and actress has been planning to film her forthcoming London shows for a new concert special.
“Despite all the noise around her, she has fully enjoyed returning to the stage as a pop star,” an insider told the outlet.
The source added, “She didn’t think she would ever tour again and certainly won’t for a long, long time, so she wants Eternal Sunshine immortalised.”
While she plans to take a break from the spotlight, Grande wants her fans to have something they can thoroughly enjoy and hold on to until she officially returns.
“It’s also the perfect present to her fans while she takes time away from the spotlight,” the tipster noted.
Inside Ariana Grande’s hiatus plan
The report comes just days after the petal hitmaker revealed plans to step away from the spotlight following the conclusion of the Eternal Sunshine Tour, amid growing public concern about her wellbeing.
“Ariana will be taking a step back from visibility after she completes the Eternal Sunshine Tour,” her representative told Deadline on Sunday, August 2.
The Victorious alum’s representative added, “She looks forward to finishing the tour and ending it on a high note, both healthily and happily, and then taking a much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances, which has led to endless, ongoing public scrutiny.”
Aside from music, she has also withdrawn from the forthcoming West End revival of Sunday in the Park with George, which was set to reunite her with her Wicked co-star Jonathan Bailey.
After news of her hiatus broke and raised concerns among fans, Grande addressed her decision at a concert in Chicago on August 3.
“The announcement that was made yesterday was not a reactive or impulsive thing. It is something that I had decided to plan, that I had quietly made a long time ago,” she told the audience.
Responding to the online backlash, the Dangerous Woman hitmaker brushed off suggestions that “negativity was ruining things” for her, insisting that her decision came from a “thoughtful and empowered place.”
“Multiple things can be true at the same time. Boundaries can need to be set. Human beings can need a break sometimes. And also this can be and will continue to be the greatest experience of my professional career,” she explained.
Toward the end of her remarks, Grande stressed that no amount of online speculation could affect the bond she shares with her fans.
“No matter what noises exist out there nothing will be able to distort my reality or be more real to me or louder to me as this love that we share,” she concluded.
