India’s star weightlifter and Olympic medalist Mirabai Chanu gave the country its first gold medal with a brilliant performance in the Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2026. In the women’s 48 kg category, Mirabai presented a brilliant example of her experience and strong performance and won the Commonwealth Games gold medal for the third consecutive time. Along with this, he created history by winning gold in 2018, 2022 and 2026.
31 year old Mirabai Chanu created history by showing tremendous strength and amazing patience. He created new records in both Commonwealth and Commonwealth Games in snatch. Not only this, he also made new Commonwealth Games records in clean and jerk and total weight lifting.

Won third gold medal with record
In the final of women’s 48 kg category, Mirabai Chanu created a new Commonwealth and Games record by lifting 85 kg in snatch. After this, he successfully lifted 105 kg weight and captured the gold medal in clean and jerk. However, in her first attempt at clean and jerk, she could not succeed in lifting 82 kg. In the second attempt he lifted 82 kg and in the third attempt he made another record with 85 kg. After this, the successful attempt of 105 kg became the seal of his historic victory.

Talented Mirabai Chanu once again showed her mettle in the Commonwealth Games and won the gold medal with a brilliant performance in the 48 kg category. Having won gold in two consecutive Commonwealth Games and a total of four Commonwealth Games medals, Mirabai has become an inspiration for every Indian today.
