PF interest not credited yet? Don’t panic, check in minutes with these 3 easy ways
Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has started the process of depositing interest in the account at the rate of 8.25% for the financial year 2025-26. Millions of employees have started getting interest money in their accounts and they are also getting SMS. But, if you have not received any message from EPFO yet, then there is absolutely no need to worry.
Why is it late? This process of depositing interest by EPFO does not happen in all accounts simultaneously. This work is done in phase-wise i.e. in different batches. For this reason, interest has been credited to the account of some members while it may take some time for it to appear in the account of others.
Will late payment of interest hurt? Many employees fear that late deposit of interest will lead to financial loss. But that is not the case at all. As per paragraph 60 of EPF Scheme, 1952, the interest is calculated on the basis of the running balance of every month. Whether it is deposited at the end of the financial year or later, EPFO attaches interest on the balance every month. Therefore, even if interest takes some time to accrue, the member does not suffer any loss and gets full interest.
3 Easy Ways to Check PF Balance and Interest at Home:
1. Check passbook through EPFO portal:The most reliable way is to visit the official Unified Member Portal of EPFO. There, go to the ‘Member Passbook’ section and log in with your UAN and password. Here you will find complete details of employee and employer contributions, transfers and accrued interest.
2. Know Balance by Missed Call:If your mobile number is registered with UAN, you can get PF balance information by giving a missed call to 011-22901406 from your registered number. This service is absolutely free. (Note that linking your UAN with Aadhaar, PAN and Bank Account is mandatory).
3. Check by sending SMS:You can also check the latest balance by sending an SMS to 7738299899 from your registered mobile number. For this you have to type in the message box: EPFOHO UAN ENG (If you want information in a language other than English, replace ENG with the first three letters of that language, like ‘GUJ’ for Gujarati or ‘MAR’ for Marathi).
If your UAN is fully KYC, you can avail all these facilities from home very easily.
