Disney’s Live-Action Version of ‘Moana’
Disney’s live-action version of ‘Moana’ failed to live up to expectations. The film received negative reviews from critics and grossed significantly less than the animated version. Nevertheless, Dwayne Johnson, who plays Maui, has supported the film, saying that it’s not necessary to like every film.

Dwayne Johnson discussed the film’s reception in an interview with People magazine. He explained that the initial positive reviews gave him hope for a positive response. However, critics’ opinions later changed, but this was nothing new for Johnson. He said that this happens in the film industry. He discussed the film’s reception with his wife several times and focused on the audience’s long-term opinion.

‘Moana’ is a live-action remake of the popular 2016 animated film. The new film did not receive a positive response from critics. It received a 31 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes and a 42 on Metacritic. However, some critics didn’t completely dismiss it. Dwayne Johnson said he knew there would be varying opinions after its release. He told audiences that if they liked the film, that’s fine, but if they didn’t, that’s okay too. Box Office Performance
The live-action “Moana” has so far grossed $266 million globally, including $119 million from North America. This figure is significantly lower than the 2016 animated film, which earned $687 million worldwide. Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro also acknowledged that the box office performance of the live-action “Moana” did not meet expectations. However, he said the company will continue to invest in its key franchises, as these films also benefit other parts of the company.
