Weeks after being appointed as the Chairman of the Committee on Petitions following its reconstitution, BJP MP Raghav Chadha met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday (August 8) and fondly described the interaction as “enriching”.
Meeting with PM Modi
The remarks come at a time when the former AAP leader, who was earlier known for raising questions in Parliament on a variety of issues affecting the common man, ranging from the price of samosas at airports to the validity of prepaid mobile recharges, is, as described by himself, transitioning from the role of an Opposition leader duty-bound to raise questions about problems to one in the ruling dispensation expected to provide solutions.

The BJP MP in a post on X praised the Prime Minister for providing him with the opportunity to benefit from his “insights and guidance”.
“A morning I will cherish. Had the privilege of meeting Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji. A detailed and enriching interaction. Deeply grateful for his generous time and for the opportunity to benefit from his insights and guidance,” stated Chadha, who in April led the exit of seven Rajya Sabha MPs from the AAP to the BJP.
Defends new role
Recently, in the face of criticism over his alleged silence on the NEET protest, Chadha argued that he had not made a public statement on it as his role has changed after moving to the treasury benches, adding that his current focus is on finding solutions.

“I would also like to say something to my well-wishers who had been telling me for some time, ‘Raghav, when will you speak on the NEET issue? We want to hear you.’ I want to say very humbly, sir: when I used to sit in the opposition, then the question was my weapon; today I sit on the treasury benches, today the solution is my responsibility,” he said.
From questions to solutions
“When I was in the opposition, my job was to raise issues and raise questions, and the whole House and you know I did that job with full honesty. But today my role is not to mark attendance in front of the camera; my focus is to fix the system,” added Chadha as quoted by the Hindustan Times.
