In an interview with 9to5GoogleGoogle’s Vice President of Devices and Services, Shakil Barkatsaid the company is facing unprecedented increases in memory prices due to supply-side challenges.

According to Barkat, the cost of 1GB RAM has increased from $2.80 in 2025 to $12 in 2026based on Morgan Stanley data. He said Google had absorbed cost fluctuations for as long as possible but added that the current economic conditions have made a price adjustment unavoidable.

It also said it remains committed to offering a premium experience and will continue to provide promotions, trade-in offers and Google One bundle deals.
