Sarfaraz Khan replaces Sai Sudarshan
Sai Sudarshan was included in Team India’s squad for the Test series against Sri Lanka. However, his selection was subject to fitness. Initially, it was reported that he would arrive before August 7th, but Sai Sudarshan failed to arrive even before the three-day warm-up match between India and Sri Lanka, and he was ultimately ruled out of the series on August 8th. Now, on August 9th, the BCCI has included Sarfaraz Khan in Team India in his place.

The BCCI also provided an update on Sai Sudarshan’s fitness in its release. The board stated that Sudarshan has been ruled out of the Test series against Sri Lanka. He is currently at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, recovering from a stress reaction injury to his right big toe. His condition has improved significantly and he is recovering rapidly. The medical team is closely monitoring his condition.

Sarfaraz Khan has been out of Team India’s league for a long time. Although he repeatedly knocked on the door of the Indian team with his performances, he never got a chance. He played his last Test match against New Zealand at home in November 2024. He has been out of the team since then. Regarding Sarfaraz Khan’s Test career, he has so far scored 371 runs at an average of 37.1 in 11 innings across six Test matches for India. During this period, he has scored three half-centuries and one century. Sarfaraz is included in Team India’s squad, but he rarely gets a chance in the playing eleven.
